Seventeenth Annual Meeting

NEEDHA invites you to participate in the 2001 Annual Meeting, March 16-20, 2001 at the Hyatt Regency Islandia on San Diego's Mission Bay.
This dynamic educational program begins on Friday afternoon, March 16, with registration that opens at 3:00 pm. A 1.5 hour presentation for new department chairs begins at 5:00 pm.. This presentation is given by a seasoned department chair, Professor David Irwin of Auburn University, and is a must for those who are new to this role.
The Opening Reception on Friday evening at 6:30 pm provides an opportunity for you and your guest to renew old acquaintances as well as meet some new faces.
NEEDHA's Board of Directors has worked hard to design a program that will provide attendees ample time for both educational and networking opportunities. You may view the preliminary program.
The Hyatt Islandia is located in San Diego's beautiful Mission Bay. This hotel is directly adjacent to SeaWorld, minutes from Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo, Old Town, Coronado Island, Del Mar, LaJolla, and Seaport Village. The hotel features an outdoor heated pool, sundeck, outdoor whirlpool, and complimentary fitness center. You can make your reservations by calling the Hyatt directly at 619-224-1234. Please reference the NEEDHA meeting when making your reservation to insure receiving the special NEEDHA room rate of $154. You must make your reservation by February 15, 2001 to insure receiving this rate.
The Hyatt Islandia is only 6 miles from the airport and easily accessible by taxi (approximately $20) or Cloud 9 airport shuttle ($8.50 per person).
A special program will be provided for your spouse/guest on Saturday, March 17th. The Spouse/Guest Registration fee of $125 includes Friday evening's welcome reception, Saturday's breakfast, tour and luncheon, as well as Saturday evening's reception, dinner and program, and Monday's reception and dinner.

NEEDHA ABET WorkshopOn Friday, March 16, 2001, NEEDHA will facilitate a special full day ABET workshop in the Hyatt Regency Islandia for those programs to be visited under ABET C2000 in the Fall of 2002. This meeting is designed to accommodate one person from each EE/CompEng program to be visited under Criteria 2000 in Fall 2002, in preparation for the visit. Registration for this workshop is SEPARATE from registration for the 2001 Annual Meeting. You may obtain a registration form for this workshop by calling the NEEDHA office at 312-559-4625. The workshop fee, which includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Friday evening, is $300 per attendee. Your guest may attend the Friday dinner at a cost of $25. Payment for this special workshop can be made by check or credit card (Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover, Diners Club). IEEE ABET Workshop for Program EvaluatorsThe IEEE will also sponsor a one day program on Thursday, March 15, 2001, beginning with a continental breakfast at 8:00 am and closing at 5:00 pm.
