ECE Spotlights - New complimentary corporate sessions!

8:00 am – 8:30 am Continental Breakfast
Hosted by ECE Spotlight companies

8:30 am – 8:50 am

Digilent

Presenter: Clint Cole,
President, Digilent Inc. and Instructor, Washington State University
"Hands-on Digital Design for every student: A proven method to improve educational outcomes"

Clint will discuss how students can benefit from completing relevant circuit designs using state of the art technologies. Further, proven solutions utilizing FPGA-based trainers, ranging from entry to graduate level, will be presented, together with examples illustrating how easy it is for professors to adopt and students to design, simulate, and implement all types of digital circuits using FPGA-based platforms.

9:00 am – 9:20 am

The MathWorks

Presenter: Tom Gaudette,
Technical Marketing - Education
"Innovation and System Perspectives via Model-Based Design"

Model-Based Design is changing how systems as diverse as automobiles, cellphones, robots, washing machines, and wind turbines are developed. Mathematical models, formerly the province of research, are now used to analyze, design, implement, and test these increasingly complex systems, addressing the competitive need to innovate while reducing development costs and time-to-market. In education, these same approaches are providing students with a stronger systems perspective, while enabling more engaging and hands-on learning. This talk discusses the increasingly important role of Model-Based Design in educational instruction, research, and industry.

9:30 am – 9:50 am

AWR

Presenter: Sherry Hess,
Vice President of Marketing "AWR's University Program Overview & Microwave and RF Software Gift to the Engineering Graduates of 2010"

There's no need to wait. Start designing today! AWR is gifting to all new 2010 engineering graduates a free one-year license of its high-frequency design software, which includes its popular Microwave Office® software for MMIC, RF PCB, and module design, as well as Visual System SimulatorTM for communication system design.

10:00 am – 10:20 am

Quanser

Presenter: Sunny Ray,
Academic Solutions Advisor
"Enable Educators, Engage Researchers and Empower Entrepreneurs to Engineer a Brighter Future"

How do we grow America' innovation capabilities despite dwindling funds for laboratory equipment? Pool several engineering departments' resources to create fewer but far better, more adaptable laboratories that teach students broader skills. Systems have simply become too complex for engineers to work alone, or for students to study a single subject without wider context. Cross-disciplinary problem solving dependencies mandate collaboration by sharing space and resources. Find out how educators can captivate more engineering students with cutting edge equipment and hands-on learning in a multi-disciplinary lab that is shared by several engineering departments.

10:30 am – 10:50 am

Agilent logo

Presenter: Dr. Loren Betts;
Senior Engineer/Research Scientist;
"Advanced Active Component Characterization Utilizing the Agilent Nonlinear Vector Network Analyzer and X-parameters"

Using Agilent's Nonlinear Vector Network Analyzer (NVNA) measurement capabilities, active-device designers can accurately measure and model nonlinear device characteristics, providing measurements such as calibrated amplitude and cross-frequency phase of frequency spectrum, vector corrected time domain waveforms, X-parameters, and pulse multi-envelope domain for analysis of long term memory effects.

ECExpo - Spend some one-on-one time with Key Companies!

The ECExpo provides ECEDHA attendees the opportunity to network with corporate partners who can offer products and services to enhance the department and students' educational experiences.

The table top exhibit space will be open during networking breaks and lunch to allow you plenty of time to gather materials for review and consideration.
