2006 ECEDHA ANNUAL MEETING
General Information ECEDHA invites you to participate in the 2006 Annual Meeting, March 10-14, 2006 at the Turtle Bay Resort, Kahuku, Oahu, Hawaii. This year's program, Globalization Opportunities for Electrical and Computer Engineering , begins on Friday afternoon, March 10, with registration that opens at 3:00 pm. A 2.5 hour presentation for new department chairs begins at 4:00 pm. This presentation is led by a seasoned department chair, Professor David Irwin of Auburn University, and is a must for those who are new (and old!) to this role. The Opening Reception on Friday evening at 6:30 pm provides an opportunity for you and your guest to renew old acquaintances as well as meet some new faces. As usual, ECEDHA's Board of Directors has worked hard to design a program that will provide attendees ample time for both educational and networking opportunities. Important Hotel Information
The Turtle Bay Resort is Oahu's only luxury resort. It is an 800 acre "slice of paradise" that meets the Pacific with five and a half miles of shoreline. All guestrooms enjoy views of the surrounding Pacific. This is Oahu's North Shore, home to historic Haleiwa, and to the places where surfing became legendary. At Turtle Bay, you will find two of the island's finest golf courses. (Map) These 36 holes wind through the resort, and down to the pacific, offering views that will take your breath away. You can make your reservations by calling the Turtle Bay Resort directly at 800-203-3650 or 808-293-8811. Please reference the ECEDHA meeting when making your reservation to insure receiving the special ECEDHA room rate of $160 (ocean front standard), $175 (ocean front premium), or $190 (ocean front deluxe). You must make your reservation by February 15, 2006 to insure receiving this rate. More information on the facility can be found on the web at http://www.turtlebayresort.com. Getting to the Turtle Bay Resort
The Resort is a beautiful 60 minute drive from Honolulu International Airport. Rental cars are readily available at the airport and Hertz has an office at the resort. For transportation from Honolulu International Airport to Turtle Bay Resort or return, please call: 808.293.6000. It should be noted that transportation to the hotel through the transportation company is very expensive. Carpooling using rental cars is a good way to limit transportation costs. Therfore, contact your colleagues for their plans. Driving directions from the airport are as follows: Take H1 Freeway, Westbound and then continune on the H2 North to Wahiawa. Take 80 through Wahiawa, it connects with 99. Stay on 99 to Haleiwa. The road now bypasses Haleiwa and becomes Route 83. Continue on 83 approxiamtely 25 minutes to the Turtle Bay Resort. Please consult the www.turtlebayresort.com web site for further details ontravel to and from the airport and other locations. Spouse/Guest Information A special program will be provided for your spouse/guest on Saturday, March 11th. The Spouse/Guest Registration fee of $200 includes Friday evening's welcome reception, Saturday's breakfast and activities, as well as Saturday evening's reception, dinner and program, and Monday's reception and dinner.
