Integration, Innovation and Expansion in Energy Systems Education
Marija Ilic and Ed Schlesinger, ECE CMU
We are very pleased to have our feature article by Prof. Marija Ilic and Prof. and Head Ed Schlesinger, both in the ECE Department at Carnegie Mellon University. Prof. Ilic is a distinguished researcher and educator currently working in electrical energy systems. At the 2009 ECEDHA Annual Meeting she gave a talk on energy systems in a breakout session on undergraduate curriculum issues. Prof. Schlesinger is currently on the ECEDHA board of directors as vice president. Their article is quite timely, discussing electrical energy systems education and the programs that Carnegie Mellon University has implemented.

ABET Program Evaluator Nominations Requested
|
|
Dr. Mark Smith, ECEDHA Senior Past President, recently attended the IEEE Committee on Engineering Accreditation Activities (CEAA) meeting. The CEAA, which appoints ABET program evaluators (PEVs), seeks to identify dedicated PEVs from industry. ECEDHA has been asked for names of prospective industry PEVs, recognizing that many ECEDHA schools have industrial advisory boards with insightful industry members. The ECEDHA Board sees this as an opportunity for ECE program heads and chairs to help assure that ABET enlists the best evaluators from industry to serve as reviewers. Please help our community by sending your industry PEV nominations to Melissa Swartz at Melissa@ecedha.org. Thank you for your assistance.
