   Letter from the Editor ECEDHA
Hossein Mousavinezhad

As we start 2011 this is the second newsletter I had the good fortune of being the editor. Our main event this year is the March 2011 ECEDHA Annual Meeting and ECExpo in Phoenix. There is more information on the ECEDHA web site (www.ecedha.org) about this event also more program information appears in this issue of the newsletter. A very successful electric energy/power workshop was organized by ECEDHA in November and funded by NSF, again more information was included in the last issue as well as in the present issue. I myself had to miss the Arlington workshop because of an ABET accreditation visit but we have submitted a draft paper for presentation/publication at the June 2011 ASEE Annual Conference later in June, I am one of the authors of the paper as well as co-PI of the NSF grant. Dr. Bing Chen is doing an outstanding job to finalize the annual meeting program which will include many useful sessions including the Sunday, March 13 globalization panel that I will be moderating. So please enjoy reading/browsing the current issue of the ECEDHA Source and let me know your comments, as well as what kind of articles you would like to see included in future issues.

Best regards,
Hossein Mousavinezhad

The ASEE Chemical Engineering Summer School for New Faculty - A Model for Other Disciplines to Consider
By Michael B. Cutlip, H. Scott Fogler, and C. Stewart Slater

The Chemical Engineering Division (CHED) of the American Society for Engineering Education held the 13th in a series of Chemical Engineering Summer Schools during the summer of 2002 at the University of Colorado. This Summer School, which is currently offered every five years and dates back to 1931, is unique among the various engineering disciplines. It provides extensive educational resources to aid in the development of new faculty who have joined their departments since the previous Summer School. The Summer School was staffed by established faculty members, representatives from governmental agencies, and industrial participants.

ECEDHA Energy and Power Educational Programs Development Workshop Summary
By Ed Schlesinger and Hossein Mousavinezhad

Electrical and Computer Engineering will be required to lead the development of advancements in energy systems technologies. While energy systems will be one of the signal areas of challenge in engineering in general it remains the case that the electricity grid is, and will only grow in importance as, the backbone of energy systems. In addition electrical systems will grow in importance as many systems including transportation "electrify" and move to the use of the electrical infrastructure.
