The ECEDHA on-line Directory of Electrical and Computer Engineering Departments and its companion annual printed directory are designed to serve the ECEDHA membership. The list of departments can be viewed with the entries listed by name, by state, by Carnegie classification, by sector (public or private), by IEEE region, by date, or by ECEDHA membership status.
The on-line directory went into operation August 31, 1996. It is kept up to date using a two-step process under which department representatives submit, via convenient editing forms, changes to their entries, and then these submissions are reviewed and approved by the ECEDHA office staff. Department heads are encouraged to submit corrections promptly so that the information in the Directory is kept accurate.
The editing form is obtained by accessing the Directory and then choosing a particular department. The result is the current entry, on the bottom of which is a link for editing. The editing page comes pre-loaded with the current information.
The directory listing shows the time since the entry was most recently modified or verified. Department heads whose entries do not require corrections are encouraged to verify that their entries are correct. There is a verification form for this purpose linked to the bottom of each entry. In this way those using the directory can understand that the information about that entry is correct even if it has not changed recently.
Departments that are not currently listed are encouraged to submit an entry using the on-line new-entry form, whether or not they are currently ECEDHA members and whether or not their programs are currently accredited.
The data in the on-line Directory is captured once per year and used to produce a printed directory which is mailed to ECEDHA members. Not all the data in the on-line directory appears in the printed directory.
An e-mail list of department chairs is maintained by ECEDHA. Instructions are available. Anyone can send a message to the people on this list by mailing it to members@ecedha.org. This list is automatically derived from the on-line directory and so always incorporates the most recent changes. The list also includes a few people who are not department heads but who are active in the administration of ECEDHA. Department heads who prefer not to be on the list can remove themselves by following simple directions.
The ECEDHA Newsletter is sent to members and is also available at the ECEDHA Web site. The editor welcomes news about ECEDHA or of interest to ECEDHA members at any time.
