About Arduino

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software.

Thanks to its simple and accessible user experience, Arduino has been used in thousands of different projects and applications. The Arduino software is easy-to-use for beginners, yet flexible enough for advanced users. It runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

  • Teachers and students use it to build low cost scientific instruments, to prove chemistry and physics principles, or to get started with programming and robotics.

  • Designers and architects build interactive prototypes, musicians and artists use it for installations and to experiment with new musical instruments.

  • Makers, of course, use it to build many of the projects exhibited at the Maker Faire, for example. Arduino is a key tool to learn new things.

Anyone - children, hobbyists, artists, programmers - can start tinkering just following the step by step instructions of a kit, or sharing ideas online with other members of the Arduino community.

Arduino Education

Arduino Education is redefining the way educators approach STEAM topics in the classroom.

Our classroom programs progress students through STEAM from lower secondary school to university, increasing in complexity to challenge them as they develop their skills.

Programs include kits, bundles, and boards with project-based learning paths for individual and collaborative educational approaches. Students explore and develop programming, electronics, and computational thinking skills in a hands-on, constructive way as they work through the lessons and explore the creative capabilities of each program.

Arduino Education programs enable educators and students to innovate by making complex technology simple to use.

Benefits to the University

Teachers and students are using Arduino boards to learn programming and robotics, as well as to create and build low-cost scientific instruments. At universities, Arduino is widely adopted in the fields of engineering, Internet of Things, robotics, art, and design, to name just a few.

Additionally, Arduino Education provides different classroom and learning solutions guiding students and educators all the way, an example is the Arduino Engineering Kit Rev 2.

THE ARDUINO ENGINEERING KIT REV2

A versatile, hands-on learning tool that provides students an understanding of basic engineering concepts, core mechatronics, and MATLAB and Simulink programming through fun projects connected to real-world industries.

The Arduino Engineering Kit Rev 2 provides extensive learning outcomes, giving students a strong understanding of basic engineering concepts through fun projects that create a collaborative learning environment. Students are able to connect what they learn with real-world industries, are encouraged to think critically, and improve their depth of knowledge by learning through experimentation. Ideal for advanced high school and college students.

Adapting the kit and further experimentation

Educators can freely tailor the Arduino Engineering Kit Rev2 to their students´needs and their own curriculum. You can use this kit as the core of a new engineering mechatronics class or freely adapt the content to your own ideas and experiments while implementing MATLAB and Simulink, for example as part of laboratories and final projects.

In addition to the three projects, students have the freedom to experiment, design, and develop new solutions using the software and hardware components in the kit, which are some of the tools that are used in industry and help students learn valuable career skills they’ll use in the future. Students can also buy the kit and use it to experiment at home and for extended learning.
