Texas Instruments TIRSLK-EVM Robotics System Lab Kit

Product Overview

Looking for a low-cost robotics system learning kit for your university engineering students? Thanks to Texas Instruments you're in luck. The TI Robotics System Lab kit MAX (TI-RSLK MAX) accelerates the learning and building of robotics systems, enabling students to explore real-world robotic applications. Solderless assembly allows students to build a working robot in 15 minutes or less for a hands-on learning experience of embedded system design. To quickly get students up and running with their own solderless robotic kit, the kit provides hardware and curriculum that helps fast track students in learning how to design their own electronic system.

The kit is powered by a SimpleLink™ MSP432P401R MCU LaunchPad development kit. The kit includes a versatile TI-RSLK chassis board with integrated 5V DC/DC regulator, 3.3V linear regulator, built-in dual motor drivers and sensor interface connectors.

The easy-to-assemble black robot chassis features red wheels, two gear motors and encoder assembly and includes two bump sensor board assemblies and a line sensor array for line following and obstacle avoidance. The kit also offers complete curriculum modules with videos, lectures, hands-on labs, quizzes and class activities. You can also find additional details on the kit and curriculum available on ti.com/rslk.

So, what's not included that students may need? Here's a list of additional items to consider:

• SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® CC3100 wireless network processor BoosterPack™ plug-in module CC3100BOOST (not included but recommended)
• Six rechargeable, Nickel Metal Hydride,1300mAH, 1.2V, AA (not included)
• TI SimpleLink™ BLUETOOTH® low energy CC2650 Module BoosterPack™ Plug-in Module BOOSTXL-CC2650MA (not included but recommended)
• Three Sharp GP2Y0A21YKOF analog distance sensors (not included)

Important Safety Features Worth Noting are as Follows:

• All the inputs in the 87V are updated to the Third Edition of the EN 61010-1 to 1000V Cat III and 600V CAT IV
• Designed to withstand spikes of more than 8000V
• Audible Input Alert warning against wrong use of input jacks

Fluke 87V Digital Multimeters

Product Overview

When you need to quickly solve problems and keep everything up and running, Fluke 87V digital multimeters deliver the accuracy and advanced troubleshooting capabilities you need. Designed specifically to handle complex signals, these 87V multimeters help you maintain productivity by taking the guesswork out of troubleshooting motor drives, plant automation, power distribution and electromechanical equipment in loud, high-energy and high-altitude locations.

Let's quickly examine a few of the technical details. Fluke 87V digital multimeters support accurate measurements on variable-frequency drives (VFDs) using a low-pass filter. These multimeters also capture intermittent issues as fast as 250µS with peak capture and block high-frequency, high-energy noise generated by large drive systems with specially designed shielding. Fluke 87V provides 6000 counts, 3¾ digit resolution or 20,000 counts, 4½ digit resolution.

Additionally, Fluke 87V digital multimeters have a removable holster with built-in test lead and probe storage, which holds the probe during testing for easier viewing. For improving accuracy of low-resistance measurements, these multimeters feature a relative mode to remove test lead interference from low ohms measurements.

STMicroelectronics STEVAL-DRONE01 Mini Drone Kit

Product Overview

Over the past few years, drones have become central to the functions of various businesses and governmental organizations and have managed to pierce through areas where certain industries were either stagnant or lagging behind. From quick deliveries at rush hour to scanning unreachable, remote locations and aging infrastructure, drones are proving to be extremely beneficial in places where people cannot reach or is unable to perform in a timely and efficient manner. Every day, new drone applications are taking flight. Engineering students need to be ready.

The STEVAL-DRONE01 Mini Drone Kit is designed to support quadcopter drone designers. The kit features the high-performance STEVAL-FCU001V1 flight controller unit, as well as the motors, propellers, plastic frame and battery students need to assemble their own mini-drone.

The flight controller unit runs the firmware (STSW-FCU001) to control the speed of each connected motor and to stabilize the drone. To achieve this, the STM32F4 microcontroller hosted on the board analyses data from the accelerometer and gyroscope sensors (LSM6DSL and iNEMO 6DoF inertial measurement unit) to provide highly accurate stability and control. The FCU board includes a Bluetooth Low Energy SPBTLE-RF module, so you can turn your smartphone running a dedicated App into a remote control unit.

Here's a Quick Rundown of the Key Features:

• Drone Kit based on the STEVAL-FCU001V1 compact flight controller unit
• Four motors: 85x20mm, 3.7V
• Two clockwise and two counterclockwise 65mm propellers, plus a couple of spares
• LiPo 3.7V / 600mAh battery with a maximum discharge current of 30C
• 3D plastic mechanical frame including propeller guards for safety

Analog Devices Inc. ADALP2000 Active Learning Program Parts Kit

Product Overview

Unfortunately, in this age of “digital everything,” many university students feel that digital electronics seem modern and exciting, while analog electronics appear boring and outdated. As a result, many university curriculums have modeled the interests of their students, boosting their offerings in digital technology, while deemphasizing analog design skills.

The world, however, is analog. Light, sound, temperature, pressure and acceleration are all analog quantities, so analog sensors, signal conditioning, and data converters will always be required. In addition, although broadcast communications are progressively heading into the digital domain, their RF signals require analog receivers, transmitters, and low-noise amplifiers. Furthermore, as energy efficiency and a “green” Earth become increasingly important, analog power-management techniques are needed more than ever.

The Analog Devices ADALP2000 Active Learning Program Parts Kit has everything to introduce students to the world of analog design. The Analog Parts Kit contains a large selection of components perfect for creating a wide variety of useful analog circuits and devices. Featuring components from Analog Devices, the kit includes transistors, LEDs, resistors, potentiometers, capacitors, diodes, inductors, sensors, and variety of useful ICs including op-amps, converters, comparators, and regulators. The surface mounted ICs are mounted on small daughter boards to facilitate easy connections. A solderless breakout board is included, and the kit also comes with an assortment of jumper wires with pin ends.
