May 2021

Letter from the Editor

Dear ECEDHA family and friends,

Happy May! The end of the semester is upon us and Summer is around the corner.

It is time for everyone to have some time to rest and reflect. This has always been the case in academia, but especially this year, that was so constant in its hectic, daily grind of pandemic news, and more updates, and continuous changes.

So, let us all make some time to step back from the constant din of this last year and allow some reflection and longer-term thinking. With more people getting vaccinated and fewer restrictions, we can even plan some travel again, for business and leisure.

ECEDHA will remain very active this summer, starting with the ExCEllence in Senior Design Showcase on May 21, and later in June with a Corporate Technology Summit, and a two-day virtual Summit Series on June 15-16. And the ECE Tech Talks podcast series continues with always exciting guests. And, I was so excited to find out that the podcasts are on several outlets including Spotify – how cool is that, ECE!

In this last issue of the 2020-21 academic year, we continue to celebrate diversity among our student organizations, with a focus on Women Engineers. We also highlight innovation in our curricula with a piece from Georgia Tech on their “threaded curriculum” model.

We continue to work on more and for better content for the Source. We have plans to add more pieces from staff, lab managers, faculty and students. In the meanwhile, have a great month and a great summer!
