Srinivas Tadigadapa is currently Professor and Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Northeastern University in Boston, USA. From 2000 - 2017 he was a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He served as the Vice President of Manufacturing at Integrated Sensing Systems Inc., from 1996 – 2000. His research focus is on fabrication of novel micro and nano-sensors and actuators by integrating non-traditional materials using microfabrication techniques and exploring phenomenon at the micro-nano interfaces. He has published over 200 peer reviewed papers in the field of MEMS and is the inventor on ten patents. He has been a research fellow at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, a Visiting Professor at Otto von Guericke University, Magdeburg, Germany, and the Tyndall Institute in Cork, Ireland. He is the recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship, Germany and the Walton fellowship, Ireland. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, The Institute of Physics, Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors, and a Life-Fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Society. He was the founding Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Sensors Letters journal and the recipient of the IEEE Sensors Council’s Meritorious Service Award in 2020. Over the last 5 years he has been a regular attendee of ECEDHA meetings and has served as the chair of the ECEDHA Northeast Section in 2018 – 2019.
As the Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, he has overseen the rapid growth of the ECE Department at Northeastern University. Some of major accomplishments in the last five years include overseeing: (i) Continued growth in the research funding in the department from 23 Million (2017 – 18) to >50 Million (2022– 2023), (ii) Founding of three University wide Interdisciplinary Institutes for – Wireless Internet of Things, Experiential AI, and Experiential Robotics, NSF IUCRC Center on Hardware Security and one College wide center on SMART Sensors and Systems all by ECE Faculty, (iii) Hiring and growth of the first Research Faculty within ECE and the University in 2019, and currently up to 12, (iv) Growth of the department from 58 faculty members in 2018 to 105 faculty members in 2023, (v) $5 Million Renovation of ECE Undergraduate Teaching Laboratories through Donor Fundraising and COE Funding with and additional $1.6 Million state-of-the-art equipment from Keysight Technologies for training next generation ECE students, (vi) Working to develop an integrated global campus vision with the first joint tenure track hire in the Roux Institute in Portland, Maine, and Northeastern Oakland, CA campuses, (v) Upgrading the Kostas Nanofabrication Center through addition of >$10 Million in State-of-the-Art nanofabrication equipment, and (vi) Major revamp of ECE Curriculum to make it more up to date and responsive to current trends and needs.
