Doug Baney
Keysight Technologies
Dr. Doug Baney is the Corporate Director of Education at Keysight Technologies, where he oversees global university relations for Keysight. Doug worked as an R&D millimeter wave engineer in Hewlett-Packard’s Signal Analysis Division, and later in HP Laboratories, Agilent Laboratories, and Keysight Laboratories following company splits. He has extensive experience in the field of microwaves and photonics, and has conducted research in the areas of millimeter-wave amplifiers and mixers, optical amplifier gain, optical noise figure, spectral-hole burning and upconversion ZBLAN fiber visible lasers. Many of the optical amplifier test methods he developed are in use globally today for production test of optical amplifiers used to transmit internet signals. Doug led the research team that developed the first high-volume commercial laser-based mouse. As a labs research director, he oversaw coherent optical transmission test, 5G OTA CATR test, photonic integrated circuit development and measurement, and test automation software for Keysight’s Pathways. He has authored over 70 refereed publications and holds a similar number of patents. He earned his Ph.D. from ParisTech, Paris, France, MSEE from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a BSEE from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He served as General Co-Chair of OFC, General Co-chair of OAA conference, OSA OFC Budget Committee, Tyndall Award Committee, and is a member of HKN-Epsilon Phi and a Fellow of the IEEE.
